What waste gas can FRP spray tower treat?

FRP(fiberglass‑reinforced plastic)spray tower is a wet scrubbing device relying on gas‑liquid mass transfer and chemical neutralization.Thanks to excellent acid‑alkali corrosion resistance of FRP material,it is widely used to purify water‑soluble and chemically reactive industrial waste gas.Its purification performance depends heavily on matched circulating absorption liquid,and it cannot efficiently remove insoluble pollutants independently.

It works best for**acidic corrosive waste gas**,including hydrochloric acid mist(HCl),sulfuric acid mist(H₂SO₄),nitric acid mist(HNO₃),hydrofluoric acid(HF),chromic acid mist,sulfur dioxide(SO₂),chlorine gas and partial nitrogen oxides(NOₓ).These contaminants from electroplating pickling,chemical processing,metallurgy and laboratories can be neutralized by alkaline scrubbing liquid,achieving 90‑90%removal efficiency.

For**alkaline waste gas**,FRP spray tower handles ammonia gas(NH₃)and volatile alkali vapor.Dilute acidic solution is adopted for counter‑current absorption.This application is common in fertilizer plants,pharmaceutical workshops and sewage treatment stations.

**Odorous and sulfur‑containing waste gas**such as hydrogen sulfide(H₂S),mercaptans and partial malodorous components are treatable by adding oxidant into circulating liquid.It covers odor control for wastewater plants,waste transfer stations and food processing workshops.

It can also pretreat waste gas carrying**water‑soluble organic components and fine dust**.Water‑soluble volatile organics like formaldehyde can be partially absorbed.Coarse dust and paint mist are captured by spray droplets.Nevertheless,non‑water‑soluble VOCs including benzene,toluene and xylene cannot be removed effectively.For these substances,FRP spray tower only serves as pre‑treatment equipment and must cooperate with activated carbon adsorption,catalytic combustion or other follow‑up units.

Key limitations should be noticed.Continuous operating temperature is generally below 80°C,and special vinyl‑ester resin is required for higher‑temperature flue gas.Highly viscous dust easily blocks packing layers.Insoluble non‑polar organic gas shows very low removal rate in single spray‑tower system.Waste liquid generated during operation needs regular discharge and wastewater disposal.

In practical projects,multi‑stage series‑connected spray structure is adopted for high‑concentration mixed waste gas.Resin formula of FRP tower body shall be selected according to flue‑gas corrosiveness to avoid premature tower aging.
