Spray Tower
Spray Tower,also called wet scrubber tower,is a common wet‑type industrial waste‑gas purification equipment for removing acid‑base fumes,soluble harmful gases,odors and fine dust from manufacturing exhaust.It applies gas‑liquid contact absorption and neutralization reaction to purify polluted airflow,and is widely matched with other environmental‑protection systems such as catalytic combustion equipment,dust collectors and waste‑gas pre‑treatment units.Available materials include PP,FRP(fiberglass),stainless steel and carbon steel with anti‑corrosive lining,so it can be customized for different corrosive working conditions to help factories meet local emission standards.
Polluted waste gas is driven by an induced draft fan into the lower section of the spray tower and flows upward.Circulating treatment liquid is pumped to multi‑layer spray pipelines and ejected as fine mist through high‑performance nozzles.Most spray towers adopt counter‑current design:exhaust gas rises while liquid droplets fall down.Packing layers inside the tower enlarge gas‑liquid contact area,enabling full mass transfer between waste gas and circulating liquid.Soluble harmful substances,acid gas,alkaline mist and particulate dust are absorbed,dissolved or chemically neutralized by the scrubbing liquid.
After multi‑stage washing and absorption,the gas flows through a mist eliminator installed at the upper part of the tower.The mist eliminator captures entrained water droplets and aerosol,avoiding water carry‑over,white smoke and liquid loss.Purified gas is discharged up to standard from the top outlet.Scrubbing liquid flows down to the bottom tank,undergoes sedimentation and PH adjustment,and is recycled for spraying.Regular discharge and replenishment of circulating liquid prevent pollutant accumulation,realize water recycling and lower water consumption.
Different material options decide the tower’s applicable scenarios.PP spray towers feature low cost and good resistance to moderate acid‑base corrosion.Fiberglass(FRP)spray towers perform well under strong‑corrosion conditions with long service life.Stainless steel or lined carbon‑steel towers fit high‑temperature exhaust environments.Internal components such as spray nozzles,packing and mist eliminators can be selected against exhaust properties to avoid clogging under dusty conditions.
The spray tower has multiple practical strengths.Simple structure brings low investment cost and convenient on‑site installation.It can handle large‑volume exhaust gas and works stably under continuous 24‑hour production.The removal efficiency for soluble acid‑alkali gas and odor can reach 90%‑90%.It can serve as pre‑treatment equipment to cool high‑temperature flue gas and filter dust before entering follow‑up VOC treatment devices.Operators only need to monitor liquid level,PH value and nozzle condition,so daily maintenance workload is relatively small.
Nevertheless,this equipment is mainly effective for water‑soluble pollutants.It has limited removal effect on non‑soluble VOC components.Waste‑water generated from circulation needs proper disposal to avoid secondary pollution.
Spray towers are widely used in electroplating,chemical processing,pharmaceutical production,printing and dyeing,metal surface treatment,waste incineration,laboratory exhaust and smelting industries.They treat acid mist,alkali fume,hydrogen sulfide,ammonia and malodorous gas.As mature wet scrubbing equipment,spray towers are an essential part of industrial air‑pollution‑control projects for modern green manufacturing.
