Activated carbon adsorption box relies on porous structure of activated carbon to trap gaseous pollutants through physical adsorption.It is widely used for low‑concentration organic waste gas,partial odorous gas and trace harmful gas.It performs best for non‑polar or weak‑polar volatile substances,while showing poor effect on high‑temperature,high‑humidity,high‑concentration and water‑soluble corrosive exhaust gas.

Suitable waste gas types mainly include the following categories.

First,low‑concentration VOCs volatile organic compounds.It covers benzene,toluene,xylene,esters,ketones,alcohols,ethers and hydrocarbon organics.Typical application scenarios are paint spraying workshops,printing processes,adhesive operations,plastic processing and packaging industries.Inlet concentration is generally recommended below 800 mg/m³.

Fourth,gas containing small‑amount oil mist and fine particulate.Activated carbon box can serve as post‑treatment after spray tower;it removes residual organic components after wet scrubbing.Large‑volume dust and paint mist must be filtered in advance,otherwise carbon pores will be quickly blocked.

Working condition limitations must be emphasized.High‑temperature exhaust gas above 45‑50°C greatly reduces adsorption capacity of activated carbon;high‑humidity waste gas with relative humidity over 60%causes water molecules to occupy carbon pores and weakens adsorption performance.For high‑concentration organic waste gas,direct activated‑carbon‑box treatment is not feasible,and regeneration‑type adsorption‑desorption equipment should be adopted.Highly reactive substances may trigger risks of self‑heating and ignition inside carbon box.Acid‑alkali corrosive waste gas will damage activated‑carbon material and box shell.

In practical projects,activated carbon adsorption box is mostly used as end‑stage treatment equipment.Preprocessing devices such as filter,spray tower or heat exchanger are often configured to lower temperature,humidity,dust and oil mist before gas enters carbon box.Timely replacement or regeneration of saturated activated carbon is required to guarantee exhaust compliance.
