Catalytic Oxidizer (CO)
ACatalytic Oxidizer(CO)is a thermal‑catalytic air pollution control device designed to decompose Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs),hazardous air pollutants(HAPs),and odorous contaminants from industrial exhaust gas streams.By using precious‑metal‑based catalysts,it achieves oxidation of pollutants at significantly lower operating temperatures compared to direct thermal oxidizers,cutting energy consumption and operational costs.
Working Principle
Contaminated process exhaust enters the system and is pre‑heated to catalyst reaction temperature.When the gas flows across the catalytic bed,VOC molecules react with oxygen on the surface of the catalyst.Organic pollutants are oxidized and converted into harmlesscarbon dioxide(CO₂),water vapor(H₂O),and a small amount of heat.The catalytic reaction typically runs at 200‑400°C,far below the 700‑850°C required for thermal oxidation.Recovered heat from treated flue gas can be recycled for incoming gas preheating to improve overall thermal efficiency.
Core Structure
1.Heat Exchanger:Recovers waste heat from outlet gas to pre‑heat incoming polluted air,reducing fuel consumption.
2.Pre‑heating Chamber:Brings exhaust gas up to the light‑off temperature required for catalyst activation.
3.Catalyst Bed:Loaded with noble‑metal catalysts(platinum,palladium)on ceramic or metal substrates;the core component for pollutant decomposition.
4.Control&Safety System:Monitors temperature,pressure,and exhaust composition;equipped with over‑temperature protection to prevent catalyst deactivation and equipment risk.

Limitations
-Exhaust gas must avoid catalyst poisons:heavy metals,silicon,sulfur,phosphorus,halogens,dust particulates will poison or cover catalyst surfaces and cause performance decline.
-Particulate matter in waste gas needs pre‑filtration before entering the catalytic chamber.
-Catalyst has a service life and requires periodic inspection,cleaning or replacement.

Widely used in industries generating VOC‑containing exhaust:printing,coating,paint spraying,pharmaceutical manufacturing,chemical processing,food processing,rubber and plastic production,packaging,and surface treatment.Suitable for medium‑concentration,low‑dust organic waste‑gas treatment.
